Briquetted feedstuffs produced by twisting or stranding techniques are treated with chemicals to lengthen storage life with maintained nutritious value. These chemicals are sprayed, injected etc. in a press space at the entry end of the machine but which is not for the actual pressing operation despite its position between two twisting drums. In this way it is predominantly the inner part of the strand which is impregnated. The amount of chemical applied should depend on the material height at the press entry. The chemicals have a bacteriostatic or fungistatic purpose. |
