Cation exchange diaphragm for electrolysis - cells

Diaphragm separating electrode compartments in a salt electrolysis cell consists of two cation exchange membranes. On the anode side there is a 0.001-0.1 mm polyfluorohydrocarbon foil, sulphonated and grafted with styrene, opt. mixed with divinylbenzene. On the cathode side there is a 0.15-0.9 mm foil made from a polyhydrocarbon or polychlorohydrocarbon, also sulphonated and grafted with styrene and divinylbenzene.
