[Also in Division F2] Self-sealing couplings (see Division F2) which include valves operated by the pressure of fluid from a remote source are used to connect samples from separate fuel channels to a trolley carrying test equipment. The trolley is connected to electrical services, a clean carbon dioxide pressure source and a reactor lowpressure exhaust stack at one of several positions around a nuclear reactor pile cap. Any leakage in the connection hose or detection equipment automatically causes the valve in the coupling to close thereby isolating the connected fuel channel. All sampling positions are fitted with the valve members of the coupling and the valve actuating member of the coupling is connected to the trolley. |
