The hydraulic luffing ram of a crane, comprising a telescopic jib 6, 6<SP>1</SP> pivoted between side members 12, 13 of a post 1, is actuated by an hydraulic pump 15 which, together with an electric pump motor 16, a reservoir 18 and a valve housing 19, is secured to the ram cylinder 10. The cylinder 10 is pivotally supported at 11 between the side members 12, 13, which are interconnected by plates 14, 14<SP>1</SP> and by the jib pivot 5. A swivel pin 2 is secured to the plate 14 and is rotatably mounted in a socket 3 in the base 4. The pump 15, motor 16 and reservoir 18 are protected by a removable cover 17. The crane may be mounted on a vehicle or on a fixed site. |
