PURPOSE:To reduce the calibrating time of a height sensor f a laser beam machine, and prevent the generation of failures such as the deformation of a nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A nozzle 1 is rapidly lowered to the prescribed position P1. and slowly lowered from P1 to the calibrating point P2. When the nozzle is lowered to the calibrating point P2, a contact signal abnormality detecting timer 13 is started. When the contact signal of the nozzle with the calibrating point P2 is detected in the set time of the timer, the nozzle is elevated at each specified distance, the output of the height sensor is measured to execute the calibration. When the contact signal exceeds the set time, and the number is within the set value of a re-try counter 15, the nozzle is elevated above P1. The X-and Y-positions of the nozzle are slightly moved, and this operation is repeated. When the number of the re-try exceeds the set value of the re-try counter 15, the calibration of the height sensor is stopped. |
