These cradles comprise longitudinal wires parallel to the pipe axis and a wire spiral enclosing them, with the coil being welded to the wires at the points of intersection and are mfd. on a machine comprising radially adjustable wire guides for the longitudinal wires, a rotor, which describes a circular path concentric with the cradle pipe axis, and which carries a coil with wire for the spiral wire,and which during its rotation winds the spiral wire over the longitudinal wires, which are being moved lengthwise, and also welds the wires together. - The rotor is mounted on a rotatable stand which supports the guides for the longitudinal wires. - The welding head is fitted to the rotor on the side facing away from the stand, on which it is mounted. - The design ensures that spiral and horizontal wires are properly aligned during the welding operation ensuring good welds.
