PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject protective agent exhibiting excellent infection- protecting function against pathogenic bacterium and virus, relatively inexpensively enabling mass preparation and having extremely high safety by including a specific iron-lactoferrin. SOLUTION: This protective agent comprises an iron-lactoferrin in which at least 3 atoms of iron per molecule of lactoferrin is retained. An iron- lactoferrin conjugate or complex in which (bi)carbonic acid and iron are bonded to lactoferrin or specifically >=15 mg (bi)carbonic acid and 10-700 mg iron are bonded to 1 g lactoferrin is preferable as the above iron-lactoferrin. A lactoferrin obtained by separating from secretory fluid of mammal milk, etc., transferrin separated from blood, organs, etc., ovotransferrin, etc., separated from egg can be used as the above lactoferrin. The mixing ratio is controlled so that iron-lactoferrin can be ingested in an amount of 0.1-5,000 mg per day in the case of adult. |
