A closed chamber is provided to shrink fabrics in the piece, where jets direct hot air or steam at the walls of the chamber, while infra-red heaters impart a shock heat treatment to the material. - Pre-shrunk characteristic is given to fabric which cannot be immersed in hot fluid.
