Cpds. of formula (II): (where R is H or an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic residue) are prepd. by reacting a 4-halo-7-nitro-1,2-benzisothiazole with R-NH2. Cpds. of formula (I) (where X is halogen or NO2) are prepd. by reacting (II) with halogen or NHO3. (I) and (II) (esp. I; X = NO2)) are fungicides.
