PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an anti-peptic antiulcer agent having the suppressive activity for gastric digestion and the protective effect for gastric mucosa by formulating a specific terpenoid compound as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This agent contains a monoterpenoid compound (e.g citronellal of formula I, 1-p-menthene of formula II, dihydro-α-terpineol of formula III, carvone, α-limonene, terpinen-4-ol and isobornyl acetate) and/or at least one kind of compound selected from cyclic sesquiterpenoid compounds (e.g. elemol of formula IV, longifolene of formula V, isolongifolene and p-caryophyllene alcohol) as active ingredients in the amount of 0.1-100wt.%. The above terpenoid compounds are mainly contained in plant essential oils obtained by steam distillation from various parts of plants. |
