PURPOSE: To improve the surface hardness and wear resistance by sequentially coating a titanium alloy containing zirconium of the core with an alloy layer rich in oxygen, which is coated with a surface layer of a mixed oxide. CONSTITUTION: A titanium alloy 1 containing zirconium of the core part is sequentially coated with a layer 2 of an alloy rich in oxygen, which is coated with a surface layer 3 of a mixed oxide. The layer 2 of an alloy solution rich in oxygen and the surface layer of the mixed oxide are formed at a temperature raised under such environment that oxygen can be supplied and oxygen can be diffused on the surface of the alloy. The layer 2 of the alloy rich in oxygen is made smaller than the thickness of about 50 micron, preferably smaller than the thickness of about 20 micron. The surface layer 3 of the mixed oxide is about 0.1 to 10 micron thick. Further, a sponge layer 4 rich in zirconium is formed between the layer 2 rich in oxygen and the surface layer 3 of the mixed oxide. |
