摘要 PURPOSE: To obtain a bit rate distance product in the order of 200 T bit km/sec with respect to single channel transmission by increasing the bit rate distance product which is attainable by means of a non-soliton optical phase conjugate system by adjusting system parameters. CONSTITUTION: An optical communication system using optical phase conjugation for dispersion compensation is provided with an optical fiber route 9 and an optical communication transmitter 10 at one end of the route 9. The light outputted from the transmitter 10 is inputted to a receiver 12 through the route 9. The route 9 is composed of a single segment having a first section 14 of L1 in length and a second section 15 of L2 in length and incorporates a single phase conjugator 20 between the first and second sections 14 and 15. In order to compensate the dispersion and nonlinearity in the route 9, the phase conjugation of optical signals is generated by means of the conjugator 20 and the intensity level of optical signals in at least one section of the segment is adjusted so that the nonlinearity in the route 9 may be compensated. In addition, the attainable bit rate-distance product of the system is increased by adjusting system parameters.
