The basic apparatus uses a single, broad filter for each colour tilted into the path of a eam of white light. Each colour component normally forms its own connected region of the filtered beam, and strong, ligh-absorbing diffusors are usually needed to blend the rays together to provide an even illuminated for the negative. Illumination is increased with the colour filters divided into narrow strips, with spaces between through which white light will pass when the strips are only partially tilted. The filtered beam is more broken, its colours more scattered, and milder, less absorbent diffusors will suffice, and narrow scratches on the negative will not show upon the print.
|
