<p>Skylights or hatches primarily for boats include a stay mechanism enabling the hatch cover to be opened, closed and set to intermediate positions using only one hand. The stay mechanism (25) has a stay bar (26) and an injection-moulded, box-section track (27) in which a slidable termination (29) or bar (26) is he track (27) has spaced-apart obstructions e.g. ribs (45) at intervals along its length which obstruct free movement of the stay bar (26) in order to stay the skylight or hatch in selected open positions. Slots (46) in the track adjacent the rib s (45) permit the track to flex momentarily to allow the stay bar end to be forced past the interfering ribs during opening and closing movements. Other embodiments feature rigid tracks and stay bar terminations which are collapsible to pass the track obstructions. In some embodiments, the tracks and stay bar terminations can be a tight frictional fit. </p> |
