PURPOSE:To provide a position detector which automatically detects the specific region by using a one-dimensional image pickup element array. CONSTITUTION:A one-dimensional image pickup element array 4 which photoelectrically converts the image of the sample by a microscopic objective lens 3, and a stage drive unit 5 which moves a stage 2 on which the sample is placed in the direction perpendicular to the optical axis of the microscopic objective lens 3 and nearly perpendicular to the arraying direction of the one-dimensional image pickup element array 4 are provided. Further, an extracting circuit 6 which extracts the high- frequency component of the photoelectric output of the array 4 during movement of the state 2 and a stage position detecting circuit 7 which detects the stage position of the time when the output of the extracting circuit 6 become peak, are also provided. Thereby, the specific region may be automatically detected from the sample image of a microscope. |
