PURPOSE:To detect accurately the width of a long-sized board material by repeatedly scanning the carried board material in its width wise direction with a microwave beam and by measuring the time when the reflected beam is received. CONSTITUTION:To long-sized board material SB carried in its lengthwise direction, microwave beams from oscillators 10 and 11 are radiated so as to scan board material SB in its widthwise direction repeatedly. The microwave beams reflected on the surface of board material SB are received by receiving circuit 13 via receiving antenna 102 provided at a proper position covering the carriage path of board material SB. The time when the reflected beams are received is measured, and from the measured result, the width of board material SB is found. |
