LIQUID JET PRODUCING DEVICE

An improved liquid jet producing device for cleaning a swimming pool where the device is of the type which includes a housing located beneath the bottom surface of the pool and a mechanism for producing a liquid jet inserted in the housing. The mechanism includes a hollow plunger closed at the top capable of moving between open and closed positions in the housing. The plunger is urged toward the closed position by a spring and includes an opening located so that it is blocked from the pool when the plunger is in the closed position and open to the pool when liquid introduced into the plunger overcomes the force of the spring and pushes the plunger toward the open position. The plunger is turned between each movement between the open and closed positions for producing a jet which is capable of intermittently sweeping the pool through 360.degree.. The improvement includes the housing including a solid bottom wall, a liquid inlet opening being located between the top and bottom of the housing, the bottom end of the plunger being located near the closed bottom of the housing when the plunger is in its closed position. The plunger includes a plurality of openings along its length to allow liquid to enter the plunger from the inlet opening.
