Phase shifter for microwave frequencies with integrated optics comprising a monocrystalline body 1 of an electro-optical material with high birefringence, in which is formed a channel 3 for guiding monomode light 3, and which is adjacent and parallel to a flat surface of the body, the orientation of this channel being in a predetermined direction with respect to the axes of the crystal. The body furthermore comprises, on its flat surface 2 adjacent to one end of the channel, an electrode 4 shaped so that a TE -><- TM mode conversion can be applied to a monochromatic light wave entering the channel at this end through the application of a DC control voltage to this electrode. The channel length following the electrode in the direction of propagation of the light is such that a predetermined phase shift is effected between the TE and TM modes of the light emerging at the other end of the channel with respect to the light at its entrance. <IMAGE>
