PURPOSE:To know the spelling and the nationality of an inputted word by retrieving the inputted word with a retrieving means and when said word exists at other language dictionary part which is not selected with a selecting means, informing the external part, in a spelling verifier at a document processing corresponding to a multilingual. CONSTITUTION:An operator sets the setting code of either of codes 5a-7a classified by nations and a user dictionary code 8a with an input device 2 and stores it into a setting code storing area 4a. For example, the setting code is an English 5 and a user dictionary part 8. At present, when the sentence of 'This est a Buch.SV abcdef' is inputted, 'This' exists at the dictionary part. Since the next 'est' is French, not English and does not exist at a dictionary part 5, a next French dictionary part 6 is retrieved and it is judged that the word exists. After judgement, the setting code in an X area 4a and a code 6a classified by nations are compared, and when they are not equal, it is informed to the operator that an input word 'est' is a French word and the retrieving after the next word 'a' is continued.
