PURPOSE:To execute a measurement of a transfer torque exactly and with a high responsiveness by exciting and magnetizing uniformly a ferromagnetic material revolving shaft for transferring the torque, in the axial direction, and detecting a magnetized component generated in the peripheral direction of the revolving shaft. CONSTITUTION:An exciting alternating current is conducted electrically to two pieces of exciting coils 16 which have been wound round by noncontact to the periphery of a ferromagnetic material revolving shaft 10 for transferring a torque, and the revolving shaft 10 is magnetized uniformly in the axial direction. On the other hand, to a detecting core ring 22 which has been positioned in the middle of these two pieces of exciting coils 16, and has been placed by non-contact so as to surround the revolving shaft 10, plural conductor rings 26 are wound round, and each detecting core 28 forms a detecting magnetic circuit being independent magnetically from each other between the circuit and the revolving shaft 10. In this way, the transfer torque can be measured with a high accuracy by adding and operating an output signal of a detecting coil 30 which has been wound round to each magnetic pole piece 24 in order to detect a magnetic flux of this detecting magnetic circuit.
