PURPOSE:To perform a complete cleaning by removing toner from the surface of a drum to be cleaned by using an electret fiber sheet. CONSTITUTION:The electret fiber sheet 3 sent from a supply roller 5 moves as shown by an arrow A and is pressed against the drum 1 to be cleaned which rotates as shown by an arrow B through a contactor 4. The contactor 4 is connected to a solenoid valve, etc., and its contacting pressure to the drum 1 to be cleaned is adjustable in a free press-contacting state. Specially, when toner is cleaned, the adjustment of the contacting pressure exerts large influence upon the effect of the removal of toner. Toner sticking on the drum 1 to be cleaned is attracted to the electret fiber sheet 3 through electric operation. The attracted toner 2' is carried by the electret fiber sheet 3 which moves as shown by an arrow A' and the fiber sheet is wound around a roller 6, thereby cleaning the toner 2 off the surface of the object drum 1 completely.
