PURPOSE:To prevent an erroneous discrimination between the image-formed surface and non-image-formed surface of a transfer material when the paper is manually fed and to prevent oil from being transferred and stuck to an image carrier caused by the erroneous discrimination by providing a transfer material detector for discriminating between the image- formed surface and non-image-formed surface of the transfer material on a transfer material carrying path between a manual paper feeding part and an image carrier. CONSTITUTION:In the case of forming a both-side multicolor image in a multicolor image forming device, by reason of the slip, etc., of a paper feeding roller, the paper is manually fed in order to form the image on the non-image-formed surface. In this case, the discrimination between the image-formed surface and the non-image-formed surface of the transfer material manually fed from the manual paper feeding part 90c by an operator is executed by the transfer material detector 11, then, the occurrence of operator's erroneous discrimination is prevented. When the transfer material passes by a detecting roller for the detector 11 while bringing the non-image-formed surface into contact with the detecting roller, the friction force is generated on the detecting roller. Then, if the non-image-formed surface of the transfer material is detected when the rear surface of the transfer material is traced by the detecting roller, it is judged as operator's erroneous discrimination, then, the transfer material is stopped, or discharged. |
