Or 2,8-dimethyl-5-isopropyl-1,3,7- nonatriene is synthesized from 5-methyl-2-isopropyl-4-hexanal using Witting reaction and oxidized using an oxidizing agent such as selenium oxide to provide the compound expressed by the formula.
