The handgrip on each end of the handlebars has a twist fitting and is hollow. The inside of each grip has splines for the axial guidance of a plug (2/2) whose inner end is threaded inside a fixed sleeve (2/3) located into the end of the handlebar. The coarse thread causes the axial movement when the grip is twisted. The plug is attached to a brake cable (8) threaded through the inside of the handlebars. The handgrip has an outer rubber body bonded to an inner metal sleeve. The sleeve has a fine thread coupling to an outer securing nut (3), with an O-ring axial location over the end of the handlebar tube. ADVANTAGE - Safe braking, no risk of trapping fingers, no external brake cables.
