PURPOSE:To surely spread the breakage of a cover along the direction of arrangement of recesses for initiating the breakage upon start of operation f an air bag, by forming the end parts of each of the recesses in an sharpened shape directed toward the adjacent recesses. CONSTITUTION:A cover 1 is formed therein with a center tear line 2 and end tear lines 3, 4 for initiating breakage upon operation of an air bag. The tear lines 2, 3, 4 are formed therein grooves 5 continuously laid, and recesses 6 formed at predetermined intervals in each of the grooves 5. With this arrangement, if the recesses 6 are in, for example, a hexagonal shape as seen in a bottom view, end parts 6p, 6q located at the two opposites apexes of the hexagonal shape are sharpened being directed to the adjacent recesses 6. Further, the end parts 6p, 6q are arranged along the center lines of the tear lines 2 through 4. That is, since the both end parts 6p, 6q of the recess 6 is positioned on the center line of each groove 5, breakage formed in the recess 6 is directed to the adjacent recesses 6, and accordingly, it is smoothly transmitted to the grooves 5 other than the recesses 6. |
