The video games device has a housing which contains a power supply unit, a visual display unit and a coin reception, checking and processing unit. A controller which controls and influences the course of a game is in the form of a control key pad, joystick or similar. The housing contains a conventional home video device (4) as the central control unit, whose input is connected to the controller (8) and whose output is connected to the visual display unit (2). The home video unit has a further input connected to the output of an additional timer circuit (7), whose input is connected to the output of the coin processing unit (3).
