A first one-way paging network already in operation (DN1), and a second network (DN2) to be set up have base stations (BS1, BS2) periodically transmitting in quasi-synchronism batches of messages to mobile receivers (REC). Each mobile receiver monitors in standby position a respective batch in a sub-sequence of predetermined duration TS. In order to avoid the designer of the second network having recourse to "owner" interfaces in the first network, the networks are connected through an adaptor (AD) connected to a predetermined base station (ABS) in the first network (DN1) and imposing a batch transit time of about k.TS, with k >/= 1. In the adaptor, a delay equal to the difference of the transit time and of the batch processing time in the adaptor is imposed on the batches.
