Battery charger for repeat charge or rechargeable batteries

The charger e.g. for accumulators and rechargeable batteries (2) has measurement, charging and discharging electronics (9), controlled by a microprocessor-supported circuit (3) with a data store (6) for memory of the measurement parameters and one or more display elements (7). For testing the self-discharging of the battery, the capacity of the fully-charged battery is measured as the first step. During a test interval of predetermined length, it is separated by the measuring, loading and unloading electronics and after the interval a second measure of battery capacity is taken. The control circuit of both values is displayed and/or from both values the size of discharge is calculated.
