PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare an antibody preparation having high purity and useful as an intravenous injection, etc., while minimizing the operation for the post- treatment of virus by combining the inactivation and the removal of virus as an essential part of a treatment scheme. SOLUTION: An antibody (especiallyγ-globulin) having a purity of >99% can be produced by adding a caprylic acid ion source to a starting solution (e.g. human plasma fraction), adjusting the pH to form a precipitate and a supernatant containing the antibody, incubating the supernatant under the condition of time, pH, temperature and caprylic acid ion concentration to inactivate essentially all viruses (at least about 2 log unit) and finally bringing the supernatant into contact with at least one kind of ion-exchange resin (anion-exchange resin) under a condition to bond a definite substance to the resin and not to cause the bonding of the antibody to recover the antibody.
