PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sintered compact coated with a coating film, excellent in adhesion and capable of preventing peeling or cracking from occurring at a low cost by carrying out the nitriding or carbonizing treatment of the surface of a titanium carbonitride substrate and coating the surface of the substrate with a titanium nitride coating film or a titanium carbide coating film. SOLUTION: The surface of a titanium carbonitride substrate having preferably a composition of TiCy N1-y [(y) is 0.1-0.9, preferably 0.5-0.7] is coated with a titanium nitride coating film or a titanium carbide coating film, having preferably 0.2-2.0μm, more preferably 1.0-2.0μm thickness and formed by the nitriding or carbonizing treatment. Furthermore, an interlayer having an intermediate composition of the titanium carbonitride substrate and the titanium carbide coating film or the titanium nitride coating film is preferably formed between the titanium carbonitride substrate and the titanium nitride coating film or the titanium carbide coating film by conducting the nitriding or carbonizing treatment of the titanium carbonitride substrate. The respective thermal expansion coefficients of the substrate and the interlayer and the interlayer and the coating film can be approximated by the interlayer to more strengthen bonds thereof.
