PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyimide resin excellent in heat resistance and solubility characteristics by reacting an aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride with an alkyldianiline derivative. SOLUTION: The aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride is reacted with the substituted alkyldianiline derivative represented by formula I in an organic solvent such as dimethylacetamide to obtain the polyimide resin having a weight- average molecular weight of 50,000-200,000 g/mol, an intrinsic viscosity of 0.5-2.0 dl/g, and a glass transition temperature of 250-400 deg.C and having repeating units represented by formula II. The aromatic tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride used is pyromellitic dianhydride, benzophenonetetracarboxylic acid, or the like, and the substituted alkyldianiline derivative used is 4-methylcyclohexylidenedianiline, 4-amylcyclohexylidenedianiline, or the like. In the formula, a group of formula II is a tetravalent group represented by formula IV or the like; and R<3> is a 1-6C alkyl or the like. |
