PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a mail information reading device for obtaining information from a bar width, interval, bar length, and longitudinal position while a rectangular reading range is a size larger than the rectangular display area of mail information. SOLUTION: A translucent reading window 9 for holding the surface of a mail on which information of a mail is displayed is formed as part of a case body 3a of a scanner unit 3 having inside a reading optical system in which plural light receiving elements are provided with photoelectric converting elements arrayed in a line for optically reading mail information by moving along the upper surface of the reading window. Then, a reading frame 33 for indicating the reading range of the reading optical system is provided at the reading window 9. Thus, the mail information is positioned in the reading range of the reading optical system by positioning the mail information in the reading frame 33 of the reading window 9 so that the mail information stays inside the reading range even when the reading range is set to be small. |
