The spiral heat exchanger comprises two pipe spirals which are coiled to run in opposite directions, and lie on top of one another. The two pipe spirals join one another without change of the sign of the pipe curvature. The pipe curvature is to be understood in the mathematical sense. It is referred to a Cartesian coordinate system whose origin is located at the center of the bottom pipe coil.
