The procedure consists of detecting the position of the drum at a given angle before its stop position, deploying a locating peg (38), and engaging the peg with one of a number of notches (34a, 34b, 34c, 34d) in the edge of a disc (32) that rotates with the drum. The drum position is determined by a detector (46) interacting with metal plates (36a, 36b) on the disc, and where the drum has two compartments separated by a partition it is stopped in four positions corresponding to the loading and unloading of each compartment.
