<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device capable of mounting an impact energy absorbing mechanism and a tilt telescopic mechanism without interrupted by an anti-theft lock means. <P>SOLUTION: This device comprises a steering shaft 1 rotated according to the operation of an operating member A, and interlocked with a steering mechanism steering wheels via a joint 5 and a transmission shaft 6, an electric motor 3 imparting a rotation force for supporting steering to a steering shaft 1 according to the operation of the operating member A, and a lock means 30 locking the rotation of the steering shaft 1. The lock means 30 is installed at a position where the electric motor 3 is located on the steering mechanism side more than a transmission part transmitting the rotation force to the steering shaft 1, so as to heighten the space efficiency of the position above the electric motor 3 of the housing 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
