PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and inexpensively heat-treating contents filled in a heat-resistant container while inhibiting deterioration in quality such as degeneration, brownish discoloration and alteration of flavor ingredients, and a tray for mounting the container during the heat treatment. SOLUTION: The method for heat-treating the contents 3 filled in the container 1 made of at least one of a heat-resistant sheet and heat-resistant resin includes steps of mounting the container 1 inclined by an angle less than 90°from a posture mounted on the tray so that the height of the contents 3 is the lowest, and heating the contents 3 while keeping a part 2 without the contents filled in the container 1 placed to one side of the container 1.
