PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antifoaming agent excellent in the stability for the heat and acidic component and to provide a lubricating oil composition excellent in the antifoaming property and the maintenance thereof. SOLUTION: The antifoaming agent comprises a metal oxide having an average particle diameter of 1-1,000 nm; and the lubricating oil composition is formed by containing the metal oxide.
