The cable (1) has a plug connector (12) comprising a conductor board (9) or a circuit layout connected with a surface of the cable. The circuit layout is connected with an electrical connection contact. The circuit layout is electrically connected with an opto-electrical signal converter for conversion of an electrical signal into an optical signal (8). An optical conductor is arranged in a region of cable ends, which are turned towards the connector. The optical conductor is connected with the converter. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a plug connector provided for a cable (2) a method for connecting a cable with an optical conductor.
