PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode active material which can provide an electrochemical element having a high operating voltage, a large capacity, and high energy density. SOLUTION: The electrode active material is composed of at least one kind of a thiophene oligomer having a polymerization degree of 4-20. This electrode active material has a capacity larger than that of than a conventional conductive polymer, and its oxidation-reduction potential of p-doping is nearly equal to or higher than that of the conventional conductive polymer, and the oxidation-reduction potential of n-doping is lower than that of the conventional polymer.
