PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a message check apparatus and message check system in which presence of non-received mail from a call destination partner can be known when a subscriber makes a phone call or transmits mail. SOLUTION: A message check apparatus of the present invention includes an identifier receiving section, a detection section and a transmission section. When the identifier receiving section receives a call source identifier and a call destination identifier, the detection section detects a message with a transmission source as a call destination from among messages which are not distributed to a call source terminal, and the transmission section transmits to the call source terminal a response notification, corresponding to a detection result, to the call source terminal.
