PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calibrate a test instrument to improve linearity.SOLUTION: A test instrument has an initial output voltage level and an open output relay. A method includes programming the test instrument for a certain current level, starting a timer, and subsequently stopping the timer (in response to the test instrument entering compliance) to determine an initial time interval.
