The method involves defining a part of a reference image of a sequence of digital images, and selecting a zone, which comprises pixels, in the former image and in an instantaneous image. Reference and instantaneous histograms of the zone are calculated, and a value among values taken by a parameter of one pixel is selected. The histograms are defined by a digital distribution of the pixels of the zone in the latter image in different cases and in a complementary case that corresponds to non selected values among the former values, where each former case corresponds to the selected value. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a module for segmenting an instantaneous digital image (2) a system for image segmentation an image (3) a module for detecting an object in an environment (4) a computer program having program code instructions for executing a digital image segmenting method.
