<p>1,135,433. Tube supports; steam superheaters. SULZER BROS. Ltd. 21 Jan., 1966 [21 Jan., 1965], No. 2894/66. Headings F4A and F4S. A heat exchanger comprising a bundle of straight parallel tubes is provided with vibration damper bars 10 of polygonal cross-section, which may be of metal or of plastic material and may be hollow, which are inserted in the passages between adjacent tubes 3 of the bundle -of tubes, transversely of the tubes, touching a plurality of tubes at points with different states of vibration. Each damper bar 10 is provided with a flat section element 11 (see also Figs. 4 and 5) which bears against a tube 3 to prevent translational and rotational movement of the bar, the elements 11 being clamped between adjacent tubes 3 where possible; where this is not possible, as in bars 10<SP>1</SP>, a further member 13 is provided which projects perpendicular to the bar 10<SP>1</SP> and which is inserted in a passage between adjacent tubes, locking the bar 10<SP>1</SP> and preventing longitudinal motion. In an alternative embodiment (Figs. 6 and 7) a bead-like projection (16) is provided on the damping bar (10) to fit between fins 7 on the tubes 3. A projection (17) perpendicular to the bar (10) then secures the bar against longitudinal displacement. The tubes are supported at the bends on flanges welded to the walls of a duct containing the tubes, e.g. as disclosed in Specification 1,135,434.</p> |
