1,266,707. Trepanning tool; machine tool details. G. VAL. 10 Oct., 1969 [14 Oct., 1968], No. 49954/69. Headings B3B and B3C. A trepanning device comprises a cutting tool 10 adjustably located in the head 31 of a shaft 24 driven by a motor 7, a hollow spindle 8 in which the shaft is rotatably supported, and a spring-urged detent 17 which is adapted to co-operate with a screw-thread 15 on the spindle so that the latter is fed towards the workpiece 2 when rotated by a handle 13. The head 9 of the device is releasably clamped to a stand 4 by a wedge and handle 34, 6, and the stand is clamped to the workpiece 2 by an electromagnet 1. The extension 20 of the motor stator or housing is detachably clamped to spindle 8. The spindle 8 has three equi-angularly spaced grooves 23 which selectively coact with a spring- urged pawl 16 so as to limit reverse rotation of the spindle to an angle of 120 degrees. The cutting insert 12 has a trailing cutting edge, and a guide drill 14 is provided. The device may be removed from stand 4 by loosening handle 6, and can be replaced by a gauge for locating the centre of the hole to be cut. |
