<p>Imido-substituted polyamide cpds. have at least one chemically bound imido group of formula:- (in which R is aliphatically unsaturated (halo)hydrocarbyl). They pref. consist mainly of units of formula -(-W-)a-R'-NR"-CO-(in which W is (a) amide unit of formula:- -R'-CO-NR"-; R' is divalent hydrocarbyl or organic halogenated radical; R" is H or monovalent (halo)hydrocarbyl; (b) amic acid unit of formula:- R"' is trivalent aromatic (halo)hyrocarbyl; and/or (c) imide unit of formula:- a is 0 or 1) and pref. has terminal imido units. These polyamide-imides can be used as moulding compositions, lacquers etc. and in laminating, lacquer, mouldings and coating compositions in conjunction with other constituents. They impart solvent resistance, toughness and resistance to deformation at elevated temp.</p> |
