The invention comprises carbazates of the formulae <FORM:0995944/C2/1> and <FORM:0995944/C2/2> or an acid addition salts thereof wherein R is a hydrogen or a halogen atom or a C1- 4-alkoxy group and the preparation of compound I by reacting a compound II with a reducing agent and, if desired, preparing compound II by reacting a carbazate of the formula <FORM:0995944/C2/3> with acetone. Compounds of formula III are prepared from the corresponding benzyl chloroformate and hydrazine. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise the compounds of formula I or acid addition salts thereof in association with an acceptable carrier therefor. The compositions may be formulated as tablets, sterile aqueous or non-aqueous solutions, powders or granules or capsules or cachets containing the powders or granules. The compounds are amino-oxidose inhibitors and are useful in the treatment of angina pectoris and psychotropic conditions. |
