Profile are generated on long workpieces by rolls, the grooves of which bear the profile negatives and the relative angular rotation of which is adjustable, their accurate relative rotation being effected with the help of impulse emitters mounted on each roll, pairs of which generate impulse sequences. - These are compared with subsequent sequences generated by other pairs of emitters mounted on the roll circumference, the resulting data being used to adjust the relative roll rotational angle. - Used when generating threads of long rod workpieces.
