1359307 Disinfecting device SOC DES FILTRES SIEBEC 21 June 1971 [19 June 1970] 29052/71 Heading A5G A device 1 for use in disinfecting water in a swimming pool comprises a casing having a cylindrical or prismatic peripheral wall 2, casing being closed at one longitudinal extremity 3 and open at the other longitudinal extremity 4, the entire peripheral surface of a cylindrical or prismatic block 5 of water-soluble disinfectant material being in contact with the inner surface of wall 2 of the casing. The disinfectant material comprises 50-99% by weight of trichloro-isocyanuric acid and 1-50% by weight of cyanuric acid and, when the exposed surface 5a of block 5 is in contact with the water of the swimming pool, the cross-sectional area of the surface remains constant, so that the block dissolves at a constant rate. The device may be positioned at the bottom of the pool, or secured to a float so that it is held a short distance under the water surface, or situated in a surface scum trap. |
