The record facing surface of the assembly is prepared by removing portions 28, 32 from an uncoated unit to form surfaces which slope at (90-α) degrees, (90 - #) degrees to the plateau, α and # being in the range 15-60 degrees; a coating of chromium-, aluminium-, or titanium-oxide is then applied over the entire area, e.g. by plasma plating, and the coating is then ground until the plateau is completely exposed. |
