PURPOSE: A degradation inhibitor for a resin material, a chlorine water-resistant resin composition and a method for inhibiting the degradation of a resin material due to chlorine are provided, to prevent the decrease in the mechanical strength and the changes in the shape such as the decrease in the thickness even if there is water or hot water containing chlorine, for a long time. CONSTITUTION: The degradation inhibitor comprises the compound represented by the formula 1, wherein X is the group represented by the formula 2 and R1 and R4 are the same or different each other and are an alkyl group of C1-C8, and R2, R3, R5 and R6 are the same or different each other and are H or an alkyl group of C1-C8. The chlorine water-resistant resin composition comprises a resin; the compound of the formula 1; and optionally a phosphorus-based antioxidizing agent, a phenol-based antioxidizing agent and/or a heavy metal deactivator. Preferably the resin is a polyolefin resin.
